MacInTouch 7/29 reports a rumor that Apple's Imaging Division will be shut down soon. Here's MacWEEK's article. If it comes to pass, I have a mixed reaction as I fondly remember the excitement created by my first LocalTalk network of a half dozen Mac 256K's connected to two Apple Laserwriters some 13 years ago. However, the value in Apple's printers and monitors has not been there in recent years. There have been great imaging software advances at Apple but not in hardware which seemed to lag and be overpriced to boot. Frequent readers of For MacOS Users Only! will remember my "wince" when former CEO Gil Amelio announced the ID was to stay an integral part of Apple.
