How big is it?

Today at around 5pm EDT Apple will reveal its quarterly statement showing its latest loss. Here's a MacWEEK article. The betting is that the loss is in the $70-100 million range--not really a lot of red ink for a company the size of Apple undergoing a major re-structuring. Remember the amount of red ink flowing from the airlines just a few years ago? Most of Apple's 17-month red ink came from the writeoff of an inventory of "problem" computers and the acquisition of NeXT--both should be looked upon as good investments rather than cripling losses. Apple still has a lot of cash. However, the mentioned predictions range up to a $400 million loss--anything in that vicinity would change my tune. A loss of that magnitude would provide a clear basis for Apple's Board asking for Dr. Amelio's resignation. We'll see this afternoon.
