Macs Only!

Ron Logee has written an editorial on thessasource urging Apple to produce a sub-$1,000 Mac. The editorial is interesting and I agree with its general thrust but it's too late for Apple unless the cheapmac is already secretly rolling off the manufacturing line. However, UMAX is fulfilling that gap with its C500 series at our local Mac retailer, MicroCenter. The C500/200 is equal to or better than Macs Only!'s work-horse Powerbase 180.
