Motorola quits

Motorola quits. Here's the press release and a MacWEEK article. Moto will sell the rest of its inventory until the end of the year and provide another year of phone support. I am disappointed that Moto packed it in but it's not the end of the world for Apple or the Mac. Moto has sold relatively few of its clones and decided it couldn't make it economically under terms acceptable to Apple. There's no word on what Moto's sublicensees POWERtools and APS will do with this additional narrowing of the clone competition. No word yet from IBM either.
