PowerMac G3

From Ken Stevens on accelerating his new PowerMac G3,
"I got mine in last night, a desktop 266 mhz.

Immediately clocked it to 300 mhz. MacBench scores are:

  • CPU 1003
  • FPU 962
  • Disk 394 ( 1 meg disk cache)
I installed 128 megs of memory and ran ramometer [one of NewerTECH's gauges] all night at the 300 MHz speed to test for stablility. Got up in the morning and it was still chugging along with narry a hickup.

By the way, the J16 jumper is reconfiguratble. You don't have to buy individual jumpers to replace it. Also my board did not have the warrentee void stick if remove on the jumper pack.

I pushed it to 333 megahertz and on start up I would get the bong but then the computer would lock up.
