The BeOS public Preview Release is coming soon. Here are some "employee" comments:
"Well, the Preview Release is now headed for the doors and the final anticipation can begin. You wouldn't believe how tense things can get when a lock down is in progress." and

" First, as I write this...we're in great danger of cutting the final, really, Preview Release CD and sending it to duplication."

Regarding Mac OS 8 and a possible Apple Club discount that I mentioned yesterday, reader reader Dana Baggett got a response that is the rough equivalent of no comment at this time. I'd bet on a discount once Mac OS 8 is officially released.

[Opinion] The web chatter is that many Mac users are concerned that PowerComputing plans to make wintel machines in the future as noted in Power's public stock offering document filed with the SEC. Well, I haven't received any notes of concern from readers so maybe the concern is mostly news hype (It's working as Power's COO Joel Kocher personally telephoned folks that expressed concern to Power--a nice touch.). First, this is old news. Second, PowerComputing claims that it plans to focus on producing Windows NT servers to ensure that they support Mac clients. If the latter is true, then this should help keep IS departments from going on brainless Mac search-and-destroy missions. Even if the latter does not pan out, what can be so wrong? It's not like PowerComputing is losing money on its Mac business and looking to get out. The reverse is true but there is a "rub" with Apple according to ZdNet.
