NEWS.COM reported that the next generation of Pentium II's will run at 333 MHz and will be out at the end of the month. Still the Pentium II's appear lame compared to the PowerPC Mach 5 604e's and G3's at lower MHz.

Microsoft reported a security bug in the 128-bit encryption version of Internet Explorer 4.0 for the Macintosh. The browser can't access sites with Security Socket Layer, a common means of ensuring secure transactions on the web.

From Ace Reporter Dana Baggett, Microsoft decided to press on and appeal Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson's ruling to not disqualify Law Professor Lawrence Lessig as Special Master looking into the initial contempt action brought by the Justice Department. Remember that Microsoft survived Apple's lawsuit and legally took the Mac's look and feel for Windows 95, albeit a pretty crummy clone.
