Mac OS 8.1 -- Macs Only!

's Hands-on Mac OS 8.1 Installation and Use Page was updated over the weekend. I added a section on my HFS+ reformatting experience with internal and external IDE and SCSI hard drives and the observations that collected over last week.

Reader Vernon Brown reported having a conflict between the new Conflict Catcher v4.1.1 and ClickChange 2.5.2--a freeze at the desktop. Disabling one or the other is the only workaround. There was no conflict with Ccv4.1. He's using Mac OS 7.6.1 on a PowerCenter Pro 240.

Dana Baggett noted that Netscape re-posted Communicator 4.04 for 68K Macs on 1/30. This may be the v4.0.4.1 already posted for PowerMacs on 1/16.

Dr Solomon Software updated Virex's Virus Definitions for February. [Thanks Version Tracker] I expect to see Symantec's SAM virus definitions for February shortly.
