The Expo
As every Mac user knows, Macworld Expo is this week, Tuesday-Friday, in San Francisco. Macworld will broadcast live webcasts each day. To listen in, you will need the downloadable RealAudio Player. The first webcast will be Tuesday at 1:45p PST. Rick LePage and Andy Gore will provide analysis of Steve Jobs' Keynote speech and those of other Keynoters--these run from 9:00a-12:45p PST. The Mac news will emanate largely from the Expo all week. Here's a few of the big things that are expected:
- Apple will preview Mac OS 8.1.
- NewerTECH and Sonnet will previewG3 and 604e CPU Upgrade Cards costing $500-1,000 for the original 6100, 7100 and 8100 NuBus PowerMacs.
- Microsoft will preview Office 98 for the Mac
- Microsoft will release Internet Explorer 4.0 for the Mac, reportedly for download on Tuesday at 6:00a PST.
During the weekend, Macs Only!'s Mac-Wintel Comparo Page was brought up to date. Apple and the remaining Mac clones are still doing very well against Dell and Gateway 2000 on price and features.
