The Great Mac-out

Yesterday, many of the most popular Mac web sites were off the web for most of the day. This included deal-mac, MacFixIt, MacCentral, PowerWatch, The Macintosh Resource Page, Version Tracker and, of course, Macs Only! It seems that we're all hosted by pairNetwork which moved to a new, better and more secure building on Monday.

I had startup hangs after installing PowerLogix's new G3 Cache Control v1.2. Removal of Startup Doubler v1.1 eliminated most of the hung startups, i.e. so far all but the first after removal.

MacInTouch reported yesterday that Best Buy stores are dropping all Mac hardware. This is no loss in Northern Virginia as Best Buy hasn't carried any Mac hardware to speak of for nearly a year. The Mac software selection has been poor at best as well.
