Follow Up 2--Virtual PC v4.0 Win98 CDROM Issue

Mel Patrick wrote that he had the same problem as I did and reported yesterday, i.e. the CDROM can not be accessed from Windows 98 when updating from VPC3.0x to VPC4.0 in order to install new drivers. Mel worked around the problem by creating a new D-drive disk image, copying the WIN98 and DRIVERS folders from the Win98 CD to the new D-drive and pointing to these folders when Win98 looks for the new drivers. I did something similar but first copied the folders to my G4 Cube's desktop and then dragged and dropped them into my D-drive in VPC/Win98. While this allowed me to install the "hardware", the CD icon still becomes invisible on my Cube's desktop whenever VPC/Win98 is launched and my Cube crashes when I try to shut down Win98 if a CD is in the Cube's drive. Mel said his VPC/Win98 worked fine after using the workaround.

Two more problems cropped up yesterday. First, my Cube can no longer connect to our LAN's servers even though it can connect to the internet--this was working fine with VPC3.0.3. Our Wintel techs couldn't even get me reconnected to our LAN. Second, VPC4.0 which was working fine Wednesday with Windows 95 on our Power Mac G4 400 AGP, now freezes every time the "Startup" button in VPC4.0 is clicked.
