[5:30p] MacNews Brasil Retracted Claim of Apple Plant in Brazil being imminent or so it appears since our Portuguese is worse than rusty. We posted a link to the apparently erroneous ZDNet story yesterday.

[5:00p] Newer Tech's Gauge PRO v1.2 (or 1.1?), a freeware system performance gauge for Macs with PowerPC 601 through G4 CPUs, is available for download from Newer Tech's server. This version is called 1.2 on Newer's site but v1.1 is installed according the "About..." selection under the Apple Menu. The previous version was called 1.1b2.

[12:15p] Apple AGP Update Extension is available with Mac OS 9's Software Update control panel according to Accelerate Your Mac! It is not clear which G4 AGP computer the extension is for. So far we have been unable to get it with our Power Mac G4 (AGP)/400.

[12:15p] Apple Enet v2.4.2 and Apple CPU Plugins v2.8 extensions are included with the recently released AppleShare IP 9.0.4 Update 1.0. You need TomeViewer to get the Apple CPU Plugins 2.8 extension for Dual G4 Power Macs. Apple Enet 2.4.2 is the Mac OS ethernet extension. We've extracted and installed them on a Power Mac Single G4 (AGP) and on a PowerBook 2000 (Firewire), both on an ethernet network, with no apparent problems or improvements. AppleShare IP 9.0.4 Update 1.0 is for Macs running Mac OS 9.0.4 on an AppleShare IP network.

[11:25a] Interware is Out of Business: We have confirmed through separate sources in Japan that Interware, a Japanese maker of CPU upgrades, has filed for bankruptcy and closed its doors as previously published. Interware's products were once sold in the US by Vimage and they included 320 and 400 MHz G3 CPU upgrades for the PowerBook 2400c, Apple's last subnotebook model. MacImports.Com's usual sources of the Interware G3's for the 2400c report that they no longer have any stock.
