Mac OS X Corrupts HFS Disk Images?

"I have been having a problem with Zip Disks and Disk Images not appearing on the Desktop in Mac OS 9 after I have used them in Mac OS X.
"I did an experiment I made Disk Image and formatted it HFS + and I made a Disk Image and formatted it HFS. Copied the same files to both images and removed them from the Desktop.
"Restarted in OS X. Opened the Disk Images and opened the files in Photoshop and saved them.
"Removed the Disk Images from the desktop and restarted into System 9.
"Opened both Disk Images and the HFS+ showed on the desktop, but the HFS didn't."
