More VPC 4.0--Shared Folders Not

From Mel Patrick, "After reading your web site, I thought I should go do some more indepth testing. With shared folders. Which I am unhappy to report I can't make them work in VPC 4. I can open them, see the contents but that's it. No way to copy files into or from them. VPC 4 simply comes back with the error message, "Unable to copy xxxx. Too many files open. Close some programs and try again". And considering VPC4 was the only program running, quitting it DID get rid of the error message....;-)

"I have a call into Connectix but judging from the reports of others, they are probably too busy for anything. As a developer myself, it makes me wonder who in the world does their beta testing." Indeed. We haven't confirmed Mel's observations with our own VPC/G4 Cube installation.

We have been big supporters of Virtual PC from the outset, i.e. v1.0. It saved our Mac bacon numerous times in enterprise and home situations. Unfortunately, v4.0 seems to be more problematic than previous releases, especially with Windows 98. Even a Connectix Knowledge Base (aka FAQ) question regarding the CDROM recognition issue that claims that it is confined to upgrading from v2.x is wrong. We had the problem upgrading from v3.0.3. However, we are confident that Connectix will get things fixed in short order. We look forward to the release of the Windows ME edition, a very significantly improved version of Windows in our experience.
