The Screw Up in Shipping Tracking Numbers for Mac OS X PB Continues
Unfortunately, the screw up continued past when The Apple Store knew of the problem. The EIC received his shipping notice Saturday afternoon and, despite having paid for "3-day" FedEx, he also received a UPS tracking number. The Apple Store rep told Dana that despite the UPS tracking number, his copy went by FedEx. This may be so since entering our numbers into the UPS tracking system gives "Status: Not Available."
This issue is significant for those who have to arrange for someone to provide an actual adult signature which The Apple Store requires even for the most inexpensive of items. A tracking system is necessary since the Apple Store's "3-day" FedEx is usually more like 4-5 days, with 1-2 days lapsing between shipping notification and the item being picked up by the courier, even on regular work week days.
