[11:30a ET 9/16] Mac OS X Shipping Confirmation andTracking Number Error: From Dana Baggett, "The e-mail says my order was shipped 9/15 FedX. But, I have a UPS tracking number!

"I called The Apple Store and managed to get through to a rep this AM at 8:45 AM EDT. She told me that all customers with Mac OS X beta orders for which the customer requested and paid for FedX did ship FedX three day service but customers got the wrong tracking numbers. To top it off, the server with the data base containing the actual tracking numbers is now off line because so many Apple Store reps were in it yesterday.

"I felt sorry for the young lady. There was a sag in her voice when she explained the problem. These front line reps will get beat upon by angry customers and the screw up is not their fault. So, I was especially nice to her and I hope our MacsOnly! readers will behave likewise.

"I asked if she thought The Apple Store would attempt to retrieve the correct tracking numbers and renotify customers. She didn't think so. The volume of orders apparently is overwhelming. She said if we don't get our shipments by Tuesday at the latest, to call back."
