to the IEEE Working Group's July meeting in Portland, OR, according to this Internet News article. After eliminating a proposal by Texas Instruments, the proposal by Intersil was not accepted because time ran out during a procedural debate. A proposal needs 75 per cent acceptance in the working group to advance. The new standard would double the current rate. [Dana Baggett]
