25 Apple Stores in 2001 Now Official

with the press event held yesterday at one of the first two stores which will open Saturday in the Tysons Corner Center shopping mall, McLean, VA. The other is in the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, CA. Steve Jobs spoke at the press event saying that the Virginia store will open first because it was the first to be ready. He mentioned that Tysons Corner Center shopping mall is in the top ten in the country. Unfortunately, we had our wires crossed last week when we posted that the Apple Store would probably be located in the smaller but more upscale Tysons Galleria (a.k.a. Tysons II) across the street from original Tysons Corner Center (a.k.a. Tysons I).

Apple has posted a web page dedicated to the soon-to-be 25 Apple Stores. "The Apple stores offer an amazing new way to buy a computer," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Rather than just hear about megahertz and megabytes, customers can now learn and experience the things they can actually do with a computer, like make movies, burn custom music CDs, and publish their digital photos on a personal website."

Tysons Corner Center is a huge shopping mall that is anchored by a Bloomingdale's, Hecht's, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and Penny's. As originally printed by the Washington Post, the Apple Store is next to the only LL Bean store outside of Maine and near Bloomingdale's. The Apple Store will be open seven days a week:

Store Hours:

Monday - Saturday -- 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Sunday -- 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
