according to this Yahoo News article. At 54 mbps, the new 802.11g standard is 5 times as fast as the current Apple AirPort 802.11b standard at 11 mbps. It is also compatible with current 802.11b equipment because it uses the same 2.4 GHz wave spectrum. [Dana Baggett]
