TechTool Pro v3.0.3 Updater

is available for download from MacUpdate.Com. Early yesterday Dana Baggett, a quarterly TechTool Pro subscriber, received an email from Micromat that the updater was available for download and a bootable CD was in th email. The v3.0.3 CD will boot all Macs just released at Macworld SF in January. From the Read Me file:

Improved File Structure Tests

The File Structure test for MultiTester and Navigation will now detect more possible problems that may exist in your files.


Enhanced Wipe Data Routine

The Wipe Data feature has been enhanced so when two or more overwrites are performed for any of the Wipe features, the time it takes the overwrite to complete will be equal. For example, when you select the Wipe Free Space feature for one of your volumes, any two or more overwrites entered will complete in the same amount of time.

Other Additions:

Improved Volume Structure Repair routines.
Added more conflicts to the Conflict Database file.
Added support for Mac OS 9.1 System File testing.

Plus a number of bug fixes.

Dana Baggett had no problem updating his copy of v3.0.2. Running it on his iMac 350 SL, TTP 3.0.3 promptly found a number of things needed fixing, including 30 unfixable font file problems. We also updated to TTP 3.0.3 without drama and found only the usual bundle bits, file dates and custom icons that "needed" fixing on our PowerBook.
