500 MHz G4 for Wallstreet and Lombard PowerBooks
Newer Technology announces a 500MHz PowerPC G4 processor upgrade for PowerBook G3 systems (Wallstreet and Lombard). The NUpowr G4 upgrade retains the stock backside cache. The retail price is $350.
Like the Pismo PowerBook upgrade, the NUpowr G4 for the Wallstreet and Lombard computers requires the customer to ship the computer to Newer Technology to perform the upgrade on the stock CPU card. Upon receipt, Newer removes the CPU card and adds the G4 processor and then reinstalls it into the PowerBook for testing and shipment back to the customer.
