Apple AirPort Base Station 2 (White) Firmware X v4.0.6

is available for download. "AirPort Base Station firmware 4.0.6 is an upgrade for the Snow (dual-Ethernet) base station. This firmware revision does not support the Graphite base station. It is recommended that you use AirPort 2.0.4 software with this base station firmware release. This firmware is required if you are using Rendezvous-enabled applications in Mac OS X v10.2. Mac OS X v10.2 will include this latest version of the firmware. No update is necessary if you've already used the AirPort Admin Utility from Mac OS X v10.2.

What's New:
Version 4.0.6 adds the following:

* The Airport Admin Utility has improved scanning for base stations across local subnets. This improves the ability for AirPort computers to find base stations while plugged into the LAN port.
* Compatible with Internet service providers or other home router products that use private 10.0.0.x or 10.0.1.x addresses in bridge mode.
* Compatible with Rendezvous-enabled applications in Mac OS X v10.2.

Mac OS X 10.1.5 or later, the Networking Update and AirPort 2.0.4 software are required.

We installed the firmware update on our white ABS2 with no problem. We still have trouble "seeing" Macs on our AirPort network when selecting "Go->Connect to Server" with Mac OS X 10.1.5. Our TiBook, in particular, doesn't show up in the server list window even though we can connect to it by entering its IP address. Hopefully, this will be fixed in 10.2.
