Mac OS X 10.1.2 Broke Windows NT AppleTalk Services & Workaround
Last week Mike Swope wrote us that he got Finder crashes when trying to access files that were 2-3 folders deep on a Windows NT shared volume after updating to 10.1.2. Mike subsequently wrote, "I spoke with Apple yesterday after emailing you. Apple notes that this is a known issue and that going back to 10.1.1 will not correct the problem. I don't know if this is an absolute, but it certainly keeps us from moving ahead to OS X."
It worked for us in 10.1 but when we tried it today with our Cube updated to 10.1.2 we had the same problem with some but not all shared volumes. There seemed to be no pattern to it despite several suggestions (like those whose name started with a space) that we located. We downloaded and installed Sharity 2.6 and were able to connect to all shared volumes and access all files no matter how many folders deep.
