Spymac's iWalk Unmasked!

Well, we think so anyway. Last week Spymac posted photos and video clips of iWalk until they claimed a legal issue forced the removal from their site. They claimed that the PDA was going to be introduced as Apple's in today's Macworld keynote. If faked, they looked pretty good but several Mac web sites claimed to have found inconsistencies in the photos and video clips and proclaimed Spymac's iWalk a hoax.

Since Spymac had perpetrated a hoax just prior to the iPod's announcement, we did not join the fray, that is until our flight Sunday. We took along a number of information technology magazines that had accumulated. When we were browsing through the December edition of the Java Developers Journal, there in an advertisement facing page 16 was Spymac's iWalk. But it was a PDA made by Sharp, not Apple or Spymac, only for developers called the Zaurus SL-5000D. Sharp's Zaurus runs off Linux/Java. So just mask the Sharp name, paint it white, add a fake button with an Apple logo over the menu button and a short customized Linux or Java application displaying an Apple logo and you have Spymac's iWalk.
