Apple Shareholders Vote to Expense Stock Options
at Apple's annual shareholders meeting this week according to this CNet.com article. The Board had recommended against the resolution, suggesting waiting until the accounting issue is clarified by the federal government. If Apple counted stock options as an expense, Apple would not have shown profits recently. The shareholder vote is a recommendation to the Board of Directors. It seems to us that the Board would be wise to wait and see how the issue shakes out and all companies do it the same way.
