Sony's WMA-based DRM is Coming
From reader David Gregory,
"Sony is testing a new DRM [Digital Rights Management] scheme using WMA, blocking CD owners from ripping their own CD's. This is a violation of long established 'fair usage rights'. Even worse, it shoehorns us into WMA Audio or some new proprietary Sony-only codec. With Sony Music's pending merger with BMG this will involve 2 of the "Big 5" RIAA members. It's time to tell them where they can put their DRM schemes that give us lower quality music at full prices. It also smacks of the long fingers of Micro$oftopoly (WMA format). Here's the feedback link to Sony Music."
