Apple Knocks Out PlayFair
according to this article in The Age. PlayFair is a project that stripped Apple's digital rights management software, FairPlay, from songs downloaded from Apple's iTunes Music Store. The project started with open source software distributor SourceForge.net but left after Apple threatened them with legal action. The project then moved to a similar program in India called Sarovar. Sarovar has now dropped PlayFair in the face of further Apple legal action. [Dana Baggett]
