Apple NVIDIA fCode Flasher 1.1 Update is Out

and available for download. [Link updated.] According to Apple, this NVIDIA graphics card firmware update is for the GeForce2 MX, GeForce2 MX TwinView, GeForce3 and GeForce4 MX cards. From the ReadMe file,

This firmware update is for customers using Mac OS X version 10.2 or later with an Apple Cinema HD Display and a Power Mac G4 with one of the following NVIDIA graphics cards: GeForce2 MX, GeForce2 MX TwinView, GeForce3, or GeForce4 MX. It is recommended that the user upgrade to the most recent version of Mac OS X (currently 10.2.8 or later) before updating to this flasher. This flasher will not work with Mac OS X versions 10.2.3 or earlier.

These cards require the update to support the high resolution of the Cinema HD Display. The update is required only for customers using Mac OS X 10.2 or later. If you are using Mac OS 9.2.2, or earlier versions of Mac OS X (version 10.1.x), you can use the Apple Display Software on the CD provided with the Cinema HD Display.

We downloaded and installed it with no problem on two G4 Cubes, both with GeForce2 MX cards and Cinema Displays but neither is an HD display. It updated the card's firmware from v1055 to v1057.011. [Dana Baggett]
