Latest 'Net Attack Places Malicious Software on Popular Web Sites
according to this USA Today article. Thousands of popular web sites may be infected but none were mentioned in the article. The malicious web server code tries to plant software on a site visitor's computer that allows a hacker to use the infected computer to send spam. The usual suspect is a vulnerability in Microsoft's Internet Information Server used by many web sites. According to News.com the malicious code plants the hacker software in Internet Explorer using vulnerabilities that Microsoft has not yet patched.
