Brief Hands-On Report--Apple QuickTime 7.0.3
QuickTime 7.0.3 delivers several important bug fixes, primarily in the areas of streaming and H.264 video. QuickTime 7 Pro users also gain the ability to create video and audio files that can be played back on compatible iPods. This update is highly recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.
When it was first released, we couldn't get QuickTime 7.0.3 via Software Update until we had installed iTunes 6. Later in the afternoon, QuickTime 7.0.3 showed up in Software Update along with iTunes 6. Installing QuickTime 7.0.3 requires a restart.
We had no difficulty downloading and installing QuickTime 7.0.3 on a number of Power Mac G5s, Power Mac G4 Cubes, Mac mini, PowerBook G4s and iMac G5s. Looking at HD movie trailers and the QuickTime streaming video of Steve Jobs presentation yesterday yielded no problems. [Bill Fox]
