Class Action Lawsuit Against Apple Derailed
The Court of Appeals dismissed the law firm who brought a class action lawsuit against Apple because one of the firm's lawyers was also the representative of the class that the firm was suing Apple on behalf, setting up an obvious conflict of interest according to this Law.com article. The law firm of Westrup Klick & Associates was suing Apple for allegedly collecting excess sales tax from consumers under a rebate program. If successful, the members of the class would have received up to $8 but the law firm potentially would have raked in $ millions in attorneys fees. [Dana Baggett]
