Apparently, if one first goes to the IRS web site and clicks on the File Free Alliance link, then all of the major tax preparation software companies offer web-based tax software and e-filing for free according to this PC World article. By doing so, one avoids the usual $30 TaxCut fee, $20 TurboTax fee and the $8 TaxAct fee. [Dana Baggett]
