Brief Hands-On Report--Adobe Reader 8.1 is Out

Adobe Reader is the free software from Adobe for reading and working with PDF files. Version 8.1 can be downloaded via MacUpdate.com or, usually, within Adobe Reader by using "Check for Updates..." under the Help Menu.

We were unable to update within Adobe Reader 8.0, getting error messages about plug-ins for all installation attempts on all Macs, so we downloaded 8.1 from MacUpdate.com, deleted 8.0 and installed 8.1 with no problems. AR 8.1 ran fine for us on a number of PDF files opened. [Bill Fox]
