Laptop Drives expanding--Samsung announced 200GB and 250GB Models

If your 160GB MacBook Pro or MacBook hard disk drive is filling up, don't despair because 200GB and 250GB models spinning at a fast 7200RPM and 5400RPM respectively are just around the corner. Toshiba already has a 200GB model on the market but it spins at a relatively slow 4200RPM. Samsung's 2.5-inch 200GB SATA drive (SpinPoint MP1) will have a 3Gb/s interface while the 250GB SATA drive (SpinPoint MP5) will have dual disks and a slower 1.5Gb/s interface. Both use perpendicular magnetic recording technology. The 200GB model is projected to ship late next month. Samsung provided no expected shipping date for the 250GB model. [Bill Fox]
