Apple Resolves Serious Flashing "?" Problem:
According to information dated Saturday, October 4th, from a Macs Only! reader, Apple has found the source of and a fix for the serious problem that results in a Flashing "?" with ATA (IDE) hard drives in Apple's 5xxx and 6xxx computers and in clones based on the same Alchemy motherboard (e.g. PowerBases and UMAX C-series). Part of the fix is in a new Drive Setup v1.3.1 that will be released shortly and the remainder will be in Mac OS 8.1 that will be released at the end of the year.
