Apple's 5/21 Information Alley (you can tell it's a slow news day) covers why some 8500's fail to install Mac OS 7.6. There is a jumpered LED cable issue on some (usually upgrades from 8100's or 800's). Boards with an f1 ROM have a potential problem but not with an f2 ROM.
