Macs Only!
A reader from El Paso, Texas, sent Macs Only! photographs of the Mac section in the El Paso CompUSA. It is neat but fairly typical of the disdain shown for Apple's Macintosh in many CompUSAs. The aisles are stacked with non-Mac boxes making access difficult, the ladder is located in front of the Macs and the Macs are placed on nearly inaccessibly high shelves. During my visit Saturday to the CompUSA in Tysons Corner, VA, I was surprised to see the area clean and neat with three 6500's on and running the Apple demo--this was a radical improvement from my last visit. A PowerBook 1400c/166 was on display for the first time in ages but open to the hard drive's file list. I started the demo and turned up the sound. When I returned about 10 minutes later, it was still running the demo at full volume. According to MacCentral, Apple would like to have retail experience reports at this address. Please keep those CompUSA Watch updates coming in!
