New Apple Ad

New Apple Ad: I got more mail on this subject than anything else but, of course, I asked for it. First, most respondents (myself included) actully liked the ad, making them feel good about using a Mac. I didn't do an exact count but the responses were fairly evenly divided between those who felt that I had missed the point and those who basically agreed with my analysis. The former mentioned that Apple intended a deeper meaning, that bashing Wintels won't sell Macs and that the ad was the first in a series leading up to specific sales points. Of course, I don't advocate Wintel bashing as that's really useless feel-good stuff. I just find that most Wintel users and IT managers are truely uninformed about the Mac's current capabilities and "religious" ads don't improve the odds of changing their minds. On the otherhand, Apple now targets the educational and creative channels so the ad may have been right on. Afterall, the ad appeared on "The Wonderful World of Disney" showing "Toy Story". Here's Todd Bangerter's link to download a clip of the ad and Steve Jobs letter to employees on the "Think Different" campaign. Thanks to all who responded.
