Startup Delay with Mac OS 7.6.1 on a PowerBase 180

Startup Delay with Mac OS 7.6.1 on a PowerBase 180 -- The cause (or at least part of it) of the startup delay with Mac OS 7.6.1 and the 54xx/64xx L2 Cache Reset Extension installed on my PowerBase 180 is Virtual Memory and RAM Doubler 2.01 (running separately of course). I discovered this while participating in the BMW Cyberdrive which suggests turning off RAM Doubler and Virtual Memory. This may be true for Apple 6400's as well. Here are the startup time averages for three trials each (there was no variation at the level of seconds) as measured by BootTime:

Virtual Memory On -- 81 sec.
RAM Doubler On ----- 64 sec.
Both VM & RD Off --- 42 sec.

Virtual Memory causes a longer delay than RAM Doubler. If both VM and RD are disabled, the delay disappears--i.e., with RD and Mac OS 7.6 my startup times were around 42 seconds. I have added this observation to my PowerComputing PowerBase Issues Page.
