Virtual PC on PowerBook 3400's

From Jorg Brown of Connectix regarding problems with Virtual PC on PowerBook 3400's with ethernet networks (my 3400 freezes on startup if AppleTalk is active) after installing the VPC 1.01 Update:

"There seem to be two work-arounds so far:

1. Turn off EtherNet inside Virtual PC. This is not as easy as it sounds, because Virtual PC's ethernet software starts running before you can go to turn it off. You have to restart your Mac with the shift key down, launch Virtual PC with the option key down (this brings up a preferences dialog), click on the Ethernet section, select "Disable EtherNet Controller", click restart, and then immediately quit Virtual PC. (You want to quit as soon as possible so Win 95 doesn't start up halfway - you could also wait until Win 95 boots, then shut it down.) Then restart your Mac normally, and remember to leave EtherNet off until there's a better solution from Apple.

2. Go back to 1.0. If you really need to use networking."

Well, going back to v1.0 seems like the only option to use Virtual PC over an ethernet network with the PB 3400. VPC 1.01 works fine on my 8500 on our ethernet network.

I turned off Appletalk since I don't use the 3400 on an ethernet network--the freeze does not occur.
