Writing of speed and G3's, Mike Breeden's AYM has a pointer to this Japanese page that purportedly shows motherboard jumper settings that increase the CPU from 233 to 583 MHz and system bus speed from 66 to 83 Mhz in the new PowerMac G3. I don't recommend being the first to try it. Mike also has some techtalk on IDE hard drives for those interested--the bottom line is that they are cheaper, slower and less flexible than SCSI drives but not such that they are to be avoided except by graphics professionals and for other demanding uses.
