Reader Tom Brown pointed out that Mac OS 8.1 eliminated the typing delay in Netscape Mail when HTML is implemented--I hadn't noticed but you read it first here!

A clean install of Mac OS 8.0 followed by installing the Mac OS 8.1 updater eliminated the Trash's ghost icons (Temporary Items, nscomm40 and tmp) that appeared in the Trash on my PowerBase at each startup--another observation first noted here. Just installing Mac OS 8.1 eliminated this problem on my other computers.

Another first? Turning off Virtual Memory on a hard drive before intalling HFS+ eliminates the problem of getting HFS+ to "take" on the drive--more below.
