Macs Only!

posted the first review of Village Tronics Mac Picasso 523, an excellent 2D graphics accelerator for PCI PowerMacs. If one needs resolutions from 320x256 to 1980x1080, a second video card for multiple monitors or a replacement for a poor stock video card or one (card or motherboard) that has crapped out, then at $99.95 take a look at the Mac Picasso 523! In North America, it's available from The Software Hut.

As noted last week, Quake for the Mac v1.0.8.5 was released, sporting support for resolutions to 800x600. Here are some frame-rate benchmarks for the new version using Demo2 using the built-in video in a PowerBase 180, the ATi Xclaim VR Rage Pro in a 9600/G3 (PowerLogix PowerForce 250) and the Mac Picasso 540/3D Overdrive in a 9600/G3:

In addition, Bedlam 2 v1.0.3 was released by Ground Zero Software. If you once played the now ancient "Space Invaders" and loved it, Bedlam 2 is for you!
