There is no truth to the rumor that Macs Only! is evolving to become a game site. Now, back to Quake's Grisly Grotto.

From Dana Baggett, here's a review of the Apple Store On Line. However, this may be more than offset by the loss of retail space in some retailers. My own take on this is that too many retailers so badly neglected the Mac, creating such a negative image, that it's a blessing that they no longer offer them for sale.

Regarding my internal conflict Saturday over whether the highly discounted PowerBook 2400 at $1800 or the upcoming but unannounced PowerBook G3 Lite at $1,999 is the best buy, numerous readers pointed out the main selection criterion, i.e. a dual scan vs active matrix display. This is no contest. I'll go with an active matrix display (and light weight) every time.

Here's an interesting tidbit pointed out by reader Neal Emerald which I confirm, the Finder version on the Disk Tools diskette for Mac OS 8.0 and 8.1 is v7.5.6DT not v8.0 nor v8.1. Who knows why?
