eCOST.com Experience

From Dana "Bargain Man" Baggett, "I thought you'd like to know about my recent experience with ordering from eCOST.com. I ordered an APC Notebook SurgeArrest for Meredith's forthcoming AirPort. This little device plugs into the wall (or the back of the APC UPS 200) and provides AC and modem RJ-11 surge protection. I thought she'd need it when traveling as well as at home. This item has been in the APC line for a few years. The list price is $29.95.

I did a search on shopper.com and found the best price at eCOST.com @ $11.72 with free UPS ground shipping! So, I ordered it. Incidentally, the outfit had the best prices the night I checked on the Epson 740i and the Imation 2X SuperDisk Drive, too, also with free shipping. I decided to wait on those items, since Meredith won't need them until late September. I wasn't too crazy to notice on the check out page that I had been nicked 50 for an order-processing fee and 30 for a payment processing fee, but $12.52 with free shipping is still a good deal.

Shipping was quoted as 5-7 days UPS surface. eCOST.com has a CA address. I placed the order midday on Sunday 8/8. Much to my surprise, the package came today! eCOST.com has a Memphis shipping address. Can't beat it with a stick.

deal-mac notes the following about eCost.com.

'eCOST.com adds a 2.5% credit card surcharge and a processing fee of 50 cents to $10 per item. Date: Jun 21, 1999'

That is something to keep in mind when considering bigger ticket items."
