eOne--iMac Knockoff Debuts Sunday

at Circuit City according to a Sunday flyer with Saturday's The Washington Post. The eOne, a Wintel, is a very simliar but less svelte design to an iMac. The most obvious difference is the handle. The list price is $849 but Circuit City is advertising it for $399 after a $400 CompuServe 2000 ISP rebate and a $50 eMachines mail-in rebate. The feature set, except for Windows98 the Celeron CPU, is very good: 433 MHz Intel CPU, 15" screen, 64 MB SDRAM, 6.4 GB HD, 24x CD drive, 1.44 MB floppy drive, 56 K modem, Ati Rage XL 2x AGP graphics, 8 MB VRAM, video in/out, 10b-T ethernet, 2 USB ports and, of course, identically located speakers.
