Epson 740 Printer Paper-Thickness Selector Issue

"Detailed Description of Problem: I was printing addresses on seven envelopes. The first one printed fine, but the second envelope twisted in the feed slot and jammed. I carefully removed it. I remembered that I had not pushed the paper thickness lever to + and did so, then aborted the print job and started over. However, the printer paper jam light came on and it would not respond. The print heads would not return to their normal, parked position. Even after disconnecting the printer from the computer, the 740 would not run a Printer Operations Check (printing the ROM version number and a nozzle check pattern). After I returned the paper thickness lever to its normal 0 position, the printer returned to normal operation. Apparently, by pushing the paper thickness lever to + during a print run, it prevented the print heads from returning to park. Is this a known issue?"

"The issue with the Stylus Color 740 is not a common issue. The paper thickness lever will cause the problem if the paper type is not set correctly.
