iBook AC Adapter Is Cool

Steve Jobs briefly showed the iBook's new AC power adapter during the keynote. It is a 3-4" diameter platinum-colored disc with a white Apple logo on top that will easily slip into a computer bag. The adapter connects to an electrical outlet via a standard power cord with a special three-pronged plug that fits in the center of the adapter's bottom forming kind of a stand. The cable which connects the iBook to the adapter is clear coated and braided, very much like a USB cable. The adapter's principal feature is that the cable winds up neatly inside the adapter like winding a string on a yo-yo. The connector is a standard PowerBook plug and the adapter puts out a standard 45W so the new iBook adapter will work with the recent PowerBooks including the 2400c, 3400, G3 and G3 Series. The iBook adapter will be available for $69 as a separate part (M7387LL/A) in September when the iBook ships.
