iBook's Initial Mac OS
will probably be a modified 8.6. The demo iBooks at Macworld are running Mac OS 8.6 but with a lot of new control panels and extensions whose version is "Borg 30c7". Mac OS 9 will not be available until October so there is no way that the initial iBooks will have it. However, I suspect that the Mac OS Up-To-Date Program will apply, allowing a cheaper upgrade than the full $99 Mac OS 9 price announced during Steve Jobs keynote.
