AppleWorks 6 Arrives!

From Macs Only!'s Ace Reporter Dana Baggett, "AppleWorks 6 installed beautifully. Of course by backing up completely beforehand, I virtually guaranteed there would be no problems. It's a major install with 39.1 MB in a new AppleWorks 6 folder containing 346 items.

It installs in a separate, new folder and does not attempt to upgrade or install over prior versions. One can export the AppleWorks 5 dictionary and import it into the new AppleWorks 6 if you have lots of special terms and usage incorporated in a prior version. You can manually bring stationery/templates from AppleWorks 5 into 6.

There is an entirely new, major Help system. The user interface is entirely new and very clean. The Installer provides some visuals to illustrate the different elements in the suite of applications and reduce the boredom of the installation. It went blazingly fast on my iMac SL 350.

We both have had a high regard for the prior versions of AppleWorks (nee ClarisWorks), the most underrated item of Apple software, perhaps because it has been bundled with new computers without added cost and thus, considered by some only worth what one paid for it = wrong!
